San Diego Boy Scouts Produce Homemade Face Masks For Covid-19 Relief

In the face of difficult and unprecedented times, sometimes seeing some light at the end of the tunnel is all we can ask for. Though we are far from the end of the battle against COVID-19, we are grateful for the opportunity to bring some relief to our beloved health care workers by helping the Boy Scouts produce homemade masks.

Because proper face masks are in short supply for health care workers everywhere, many folks at home have been called upon to help sew reusable fabric face masks that are in such critical demand. Though making masks is not their typical forte, the Boy Scouts are no strangers to volunteering for a community in need.

As the previous President for the San Diego-Imperial Council of the Boy Scouts of America, I saw an opportunity to mobilize my resources and take action. Luckily, we have a sewing machine at home and these days, my wife is able to contribute her sewing skills while I coordinate the production and distribution of masks with the Boy Scouts. The masks can be worn over N-95 masks to preserve its use or be given to patients and visitors at hospitals.

Stay safe everyone!
